I have a theory based on nothing so much as my gut, but I wonder if the recent slight pivot towards criticizing Trump in the media, is a result of a fall off of subscribers and viewers, since the screaming millionaires tried to shank Biden last week ( and continue apace).
No matter how you slice it, trying to convince America that mega-donor, George Clooney, is smarter than Joe Biden, and has the rest of our interests at heart, is likely not playing well with working people.
I’d also bet most people don’t want to see hysterical, professorial Ivy-League types harangue the president 24/7 about his age to the exclusion of talking about anything else. It’s not likely winning any new viewers, and likely bleeding baby boomers galore..
The message boards for the Colbert Show and elsewhere are not offering the usual glowing assessments— in fact, people are resisting the dubious fantasy of replacing Biden, and questioning why these alleged liberals are not aiming their fire at the real threat: Trump!
The media are gambling that they can dispatch Biden before they completely bankrupt themselves. Let’s help them lose that bet
