The mantra:
“I can’t un-see it.”
“I can’t un-hear it.“
“I can’t get it out of my mind.”
“O Lord make Biden go-away.”
“I need my peace-of-mind.”
Who sings that mantra?
By June 29, so sing the many men and women of crisp speech and pleasant appearance secure in their media positions as editors, writers, and producers.
By July 11, so sing 18 Democratic members of the House and 1 Democratic senator and the old pros from the Clinton and Obama days. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/joe-biden-2024-race-democrats-who-want-him-to-step-aside/
So sing the polls on July 13 as reported by MSN:
According to a recent story, Arizona, Nevada are probably gone. North Carolina and Georgia are gone. Only the blue wall of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin remains. www.msn.com/...
I see all of the behavior as a fight-or-flight response to immediate danger supposedly presented by the optics of an old stuttering misspeaking man who is the President. In this case the response is flight.
I also see the behavior as a male-dominated response. Why? Because the behavior is all about manly-strength and does not recognize the issues of women’s reproductive-rights and women’s self determination in American society. These issues are very much a challenge to many a man in this country.
I can’t imagine a woman-voter (young, old, married, divorced, or single) feeling or believing: “Biden’s old, feeble. I want the federal and state government to manage my pregnancy and our/my family. I’ll vote for Trump.”
A few days ago the divide between the genders made an oblique showing in a story by The Bulwark’s J.V. Last:
“Fifty-six percent of men who are divorced said they are voting for Trump, compared to 42 percent of divorced women. The voting divide between men and women is larger among the formerly married than any other group. Married men and women report supporting Trump at remarkably similar rates (50 percent vs. 45 percent). Single men are somewhat more likely to vote for Trump than single women . . .”
Don’t forget that stalwart of masculinity, Josh Hawley.
Here’s Ron Brownstein of the Atlantic writing three years ago about Hawley:
“Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri surprised even some allies when he recently devoted his entire speech at a high-profile national conference of conservatives to an extended analysis of why so many men appear stuck in a cycle of “idleness and pornography and video games,” as he put it.
Hawley’s warnings against what he called liberals’ “attack on men” could open a new front in the culture wars that Republicans have used to consolidate their support among the voters most alienated by social and demographic change. Polls consistently show that a significant majority of Republican men, and even as many as half of Republican women, believe that amid the reassessment of gender relations sparked by the #MeToo movement, men are being unfairly punished and discriminated against.” www.theatlantic.com/...
Gentlemen and Ladies, the new front has opened. It is led by Trump, the Republicans, and project 2025, the conservative movement’s apex predators. Of course, there is so much more at stake than the gender issue, but the gender fairness/resentment issue is the emotional tip-of-the-spear, pointed at the heart of America’s democracy, at Ukraine’s survival, at the unity of the United States.
Of the 18 Democrats in the House wanting Biden to quit – three are women.
Of Speaker Emirita Pelosi, if she really believes Biden should quit, then she should show the courage she is known for and directly and plainly say Biden must go, instead of saying Biden needs to make up his mind the day after Biden said he has made up his mind. Otherwise Speaker Emirita, support Biden.
