Has there ever been more evidence that a judge may be corrupt and actively aiding a defendant in escaping legal punishment for their crimes? And perhaps jockeying for a higher court appointment during a second Trump term?
Aileen Cannon certainly appears to be either incompetent or corrupt, after ruling that the special prosecutor can’t possibly be legal, despite decades of accepted precedent. (And I think we can drop the “judge” title until she gets her afternoon TV show on Fox. You know, where she decides divorce cases in favor of every manly man who enters the courtroom).
The next act in this tragicomedy will be Jack Smith taking her to the 11th Circuit, where we hope to see her smacked down, again, as thoroughly as possible.
The outright dismissal will allow Smith to appeal Cannon’s ruling to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. Until Monday, Cannon had mostly ruled in ways that deprived the parties of the ability to appeal, effectively delaying any potential trial until after the November election.
