It seems we are stuck in a loop with regard to Joe’s ability to handle another term in the White House. He says he’s in, then anytime we see a stumble or a mumble or a slight delay in his responses everyone starts up the “he needs to drop out!” drumbeat (thanks for spreading the Russia propaganda so well everyone!) again. It’s exactly what the right wants, “he’s too old” is this cycle’s “what about her emails?”. Hopefully the American people have learned not to buy into this kind of manipulative cross-talk but I’m not sure I possess that much faith in the general public’s bullshit meter these days.
But I do think the best solution going forward is to start emphasizing that the executive branch is not just one person at the top of the ticket, it’s a team of people committed to achieving the same goals under the direction and guidance of the president, which is a job I think Joe is perfectly suited for at this point.
We need to add this element of “we’re electing a team!” to the narrative. Now that the RNC is just about over, we’ve got a lot of material to work with to show exactly who their “team” is going to be and it’s the right time to start emphasizing just how different the governing approach in this country will be under a Democrat vs a Republican. It’s not just about the top of the ticket!
