The Clinton Impeachment, Benghazigate, The Iraq War, Butter-emails, Trump, v Biden— How many times do we fall for this shit? The establishment media is only worth looking at to understand the deepest darkest obsessions of the ruling class: this is the subtext and overtext of the newscycle in its entirety. In general, these assholes need to please the advertisers, not the viewers, although without the readers/viewers ( without enough buy-in), big media businesses reel, and fall, like a big lumbering dinosaurs.
So things such as democracy and the public good, figure way way down on their list of priorities.
Which is again why I have to ask: why the fuck are so many of us accepting the corporate spin on Biden’s health and electoral chances? A different ( and accountable) media would be more appalled at Trump’s fusillade of fascist bullshit and half-baked lies in that debate, than Biden’s admittedly poor performance.
The way the media has framed and reacted to this kerfuffle is a choice, not an accident, and not Biden’s fault. The newscycle as it has been characterized here and elsewhere, is not something that simply happens of its own accord— it is created. This myth is almost as stubborn as the notion of a “free market.”
