Deep breath. The Republican National Convention in Wisconsin is over. Now the work gets real.
In Wisconsin, we know from painful experience what happens if MAGA seizes control again—and how to stop them. Read my COURIER op-ed, summarized in this post.
But first, today is also the LAST DAY of our CHEDDAR STORM—and the response so far has been phenomenal! It’s not too late to chip in. Show the GOP your commitment to WisDems by joining the more than 4000 supporters who’ve donated this week. Chip in here.
If you’ve been watching the RNC, it’s been surreal. The GOP’s message, in short: Americans live in fear of their neighbors, only a strongman like Donald Trump can save us, and Democrats are a threat to the Republic. So much for toned-down rhetoric.
Even more surreal is the very real threat coming from the Republican Party, which is all written out in Project 2025. See here for their full nightmarish plan.
We here in Wisconsin know what happens when Republicans gain unchecked power.
We spent over a decade fighting extremist GOP policies, a hyper-partisan gerrymander, and Governor Scott Walker gutting collective bargaining rights and public school funding, and neglecting infrastructure.
Thanks to years of organizing and effort here in Wisconsin, we won statewide races for Governor, Attorney General, and state Supreme Court—and now, finally, Wisconsin has new, fair legislative maps. We’re not about to let our state slip again.
As bad as that period was in Wisconsin, Donald Trump’s Project 2025 would be worse.
This 920-page MAGA blueprint outlines how Trump will rip away reproductive freedom nationwide, consolidate power in the Oval Office, give tax cuts to the ultra-wealthy, gut government checks and balances, end the Affordable Care Act, cut Social Security, and more.
We’ve already spent years in Wisconsin picking up the pieces of Republicans’ disregard for democracy. It would take even longer to unravel the chaos and horrors unleashed by Donald Trump and Project 2025.
We also know why the GOP picked Milwaukee for their convention, despite Trump labeling it a “horrible city” and the GOP using Milwaukee as a “punching bag”: They know Wisconsin voters can decide this presidential election.
That’s why it’s up to every Wisconsinite who believes in freedom and democracy to redouble their efforts. We need to keep President Biden in the White House, reelect Senator Tammy Baldwin in Wisconsin, and elect Democrats in every corner of the state.
We know we can do it. We’ve overcome insurmountable odds in Wisconsin before. We’re already hard at work to do it again—and this year, we’ll show why “Forward” is our state motto. Help move Wisconsin forward by donating to the Cheddar Storm now.
And then read the op-ed here—and spread the word.
