We are in a fight for the heart of the Democratic Party. On one side we have leaders such as AOC and the left supporting the President and winner of the primary process. On the other side, we have a coalition of party “leadership” apparently submitting to the will of big donors who are pissing all over party unity. Under the guise of “concern” for either Biden’s health or manufactured electability issues they are tearing down the Democratic Party’s putative nominee.
The reason why this particularly galls me is should they succeed in browbeating Joe Biden into giving up, they will certainly call for “Party Unity.” And anyone who expresses displeasure with whatever Corporate Nominee is foisted upon us (it won’t be Harris), will be shouted down as not demonstrating party loyalty. They want to take away our leader, give us a heaping pile of shit to eat, expect us to choke it down, and then cry out how tasty all this shit is and convince others to choke it down.
Messages such as this very diary will be shouted down with such lovely bullshit as “writing that diary means you must want Trump to win” or some such nonsense. And the only way to demonstrate party loyalty will be to smile, eat the heap of scorn, and say thank you for setting me straight.
Joe Biden needs to stay in this race. He is fighting these attacks from within the party. The “Joe Must Go” crowd doesn’t give two shits about party unity and continues to attack him anyway. How many times must Joe tell you “no” before you will get it through your heads to stop attacking him? Or will there be no end of attacks? Or will the attacks continue until no one has a chance?
The problem with the “Joe Must Go” crowd is that they are behaving like Republicans. They believe that the rules only apply to “other” people. “I” can break the rules because “I” know better. I know Joe Biden’s mental state. I know the minds of the electorate better than any polling. I know so much more than any of you that Joe Biden MUST go for the good of the country my ego.
Why is it so hard to follow the rules? We had a primary. If you didn’t want Joe Biden, then you should have run someone against him. You didn’t do your homework. So why are we being subjected to your persistent and destructive party disloyalty? You think Joe Biden has dementia? Good for you. Harris and the Cabinet don’t see the need to remove him with the 25th. AOC and the middle left are supporting him. Why is it so hard for you to express party loyalty?
For years I have voted for Progressive Democrats running for president and every time they lose the process I stick by party loyalty and vote for the moderate Democrat in the general. I have never suggested we abandon the moderate after the primary. But Joe Biden turned out to be more progressive than anyone counted on (While Obama talked progressive but governed as a moderate). We finally have a candidate for President who I feel is close enough to my own views that I can really get behind him. But the moderate big donors don’t like him so they are sabotaging this election in an attempt to blackmail us into going with whatever moderate Dem they refuse to say publicly. Why doesn’t party loyalty apply to them? Because they are showing that they feel that party loyalty is for suckers.
Support Joe Biden. Support the candidate that was elected by the Primary. Support our President.
