1. this is shared beyond the paywall
2. Yes, I know Brooks is not most peoples favorite in regards to his opinions (I don’t share his here hardly at all
3. nary a word regarding Biden on whether he should stay in or get out of the race
4. while not all of his thoughts will play well here this one does stand out as something most of us can agree on “All of life is a series of daring explorations from a secure base. If Democrats are to thrive, they need to offer people a vision both of the secure base and of the daring explorations. But what Democrats really need to do, in my view, is to offer people a vision of the daring explorations that await them. That’s where the pessimistic post-Reagan Republicans can’t compete. American dynamism was turbocharged by the construction of the transcontinental railway, the creation of the land grant colleges, the G.I. Bill and President Biden’s successful efforts to revive our industrial base in the American Midwest.”
5. if we don’t generate enthusiasm among those on the fence about voting (mostly Dems) then we will lose both the Senate and the House along with Oval office, the R’s will turn out in droves this year, the Dem’s need to match this if not exceed to prevent this from happening.
