We know a lot about my transportation woes getting to Netroots Nation in Baltimore. We know that I saw the one featured speaker that I really wanted to see and the rest of the conference…
Went fine, actually…
Not that I attended many workshops and keynote speeches...volunteering is how I could afford to pay the conference fees at all.
And I missed one volunteer assignment due to missing the Thursday morning Amtrak from Washington to Baltimore; an assignment that I had to make up Saturday afternoon (which was OK, it was the last volunteer shift of the conference and it was relatively unbusy.)
I DID get to see a fabulous talk with Kimberle Crenshaw, Tim Wise, Minnesota AG Keith Ellison, and Tennessee Rep. Justin Jones in the “Next They Came for DEI...” panel and I even sat at the “Daily Kos” table near the front. I do have my notes from that talk about racism and DEI and Project and I even saw them earlier today and read from them but don’t ask me to find them now.
I peeked into three sessions that I really wanted to see that occurred between volunteering times. They were all pretty good and effective as far as delivering a progressive message.
OK...I’m going to let you in on a secret.
From the first Netroots Nation that I attended in New Orleans in 2018, the workshops and panels and keynote were all nice things...but they were not the primary reason that I go to Netroots.
I go to Netroots primarily to put faces and personalities to the people that I interact with on Daily Kos. For example, I have now personally met and know everyone of you writing these Top Comments diaries.
I’m not a gregarious person at all; I’m a rather shy person. I do try to socialize but for me it is difficult sometimes and there are a lot of great people at Netroots that I would like to get to know. Every year that I go I do meet and get to know a few more people than I did previously.
That’s why you can count me in for next year’s conference in New Orleans. I have made a promise to myself that I will try to get to see even more of New Orleans than the last time I was there.
Until then…

Peter Olandt responds to Clutch Cargo in bearalways' diary to point out that one cannot throw out millions of primary votes for a brokered convention to produce a candidate who chose not to face our voters.
From rflctammt:
I just love this comment by Onomastic in Denise Oliver Velez's recommended diary: 1,400+ Black women leaders, and allies speak out in support of POTUS Joe Biden's nomination.
It really speaks to me, because I also have been feeling like, "What the hell is going on?" and I also found it a huge relief to read this letter from 1400 Black women, who in my mind, are saying: Steady on. Onomastic just said it so well.
After pondering on what the hell has been going on, I’ve decided that the powers that be: MSM, Right Wing Players and Billionaires, and too many who should know better, are going after Biden not because he’s weak or bad at his job, but because he and his team are excellent at it.
The Biden Administration stands in the way of racists, sexists, wealth hoarders, and fascists — world wide.
Add in that he does not suffer fools lightly, looking at you MSM, and here we are. What he saw them do to Hillary they are now doing to him. Have been doing to him for months.
The corrupt and incompetent will never forgive him for fighting for us. They’ll never forgive him for fighting for our democracy and democracy worldwide.
They go after him because he is a threat, one they want stopped.
There is no other conclusion I can come to.
Thanks for this, Sis. The Base and so many others are furious and will not take this theft of their votes lightly.
