All the diaries about Biden, especially one that has recently gone off into the great cloud of angry foolishness, do nothing but make me more depressed.
So I decided it was time to get going (and yes, that annoying cliche about the “tough get going” is circling my brain like one of those songs that stays in your head and drives you crazy).
As we get closer to the election, my husband and I will do door-knocking both here in Maryland (we need Democrat Alsobrooks to beat republican Hogan in our Senate race!) and in Pennsylvania.
But what I can do now is write postcards (especially since I despise phone banking).
For a number of years I’ve written for Postcards to Voters — an organization that does a great job of inspiring a loose network of energetic postcard writers. But Postcards to Voters is mainly about specific candidates or races which is not quite where we are right now. And it doesn’t seem all that active at the moment.
I just finished off postcards my husband ordered from an organization called Blue Wave Postcard Movement (he did 80, I did 20) which encouraged unregistered voters in Wisconsin to register — gives them a QR code and a website, but I don’t know anything about the organization.
I would love to have recommendations about postcard-writing organizations — which ones are really active right now, really effective, really targeted for the crisis we’re in.
I want to do something!! Doing something fights off the depression.
So, my fellow Democratic/liberal/progressive Daily Kos members, please let me know what groups you’ve written for and who is really active right now.
