After President Biden’s performance in the debate, I have decided I can no longer support him. He’s old and spoke too quickly, stumbled a bit and paused too often. His makeup was poorly done.
Donald Trump, by comparison, looked tan and spoke effectively.
But, you say, Biden has been the best president in decades, with a solid record of accomplishment.
Yes, but he’s 81. What? Trump’s 78? The media doesn’t mention his age much.
But his tan . . . sprayed on? The media never discusses it.
Next you’ll be telling me that Trump lied . . . oh. But the media never said a word about him spewing falsehoods for 90 minutes.
Biden seemed frail . . . I do know he’s 81, thank you so much. The media reminds me of that hourly. But is he healthy? Yes, he is slim and fit. It’s obvious that Trump is overweight, but the media doesn’t talk about his obesity.
But still, look at what Trump promises. Revenge and retribution. Well, I really don’t know who, I guess anyone who ever said anything nasty about him. But he’ll strengthen us by deporting millions of illegal immigrants that will . . . shatter the economy? And what do you mean by “camps”? I don’t like that word in connection with rounding up human beings.
But he’s a champion of the poor. Well, okay, his tax cuts for the rich didn’t help but that was a one-off. Permanent? Oh, dear.
Obviously, he loves women and will . . . Trump bragged about killing Roe? I guess I missed that. Three wives and he cheated on all of them? Maybe he doesn’t think well of women after all. The media doesn’t give that issue much coverage; it seems women don’t matter to them either.
He works closely with powerful foreign leaders which will keep us safer! Deny that if you can. Wait, you mean he likes dictators and praises people like what’s-his-name in North Korea? But he doesn’t get on well with elected presidents and prime ministers? Well, he likes what’s-his-name in Canada . . . oh, he doesn’t.
But he’s committed to the environment, right? He did get a bill passed that is a real step forward on fighting climate change. That was Biden? I don’t recall media coverage of that.
But he got some movement, finally, on gun control. No? Don’t tell me—Biden.
As a veteran I appreciate his support . . . wait, he called veterans “losers” and “suckers” for having been captured? Stupid for having served? But I saw a picture of him in a uniform—oh, a cadet? Not a day on active duty? Wow.
But he IS forgiving student loans so young people don’t start out hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt . . . Biden again, huh? The media doesn’t say much about that.
Well, he’ll pull us out of NATO and save a ton of money. . . what do you mean, Putin will take that as a signal to invade Eastern Europe? He’s not cra—
What are you talking about, who cares if Ukraine falls? I admit I do like Zelenskyy but . . . public execution? After he’s fought so long and so hard? That’s not right.
You say since Ukraine is a huge food producer people will starve when that source is lost? And prices will soar all over the world? The media doesn’t see a problem.
Hmmm . . .
Maybe Democrats should stop obsessing about one “off” night and instead work to reelect the best President we’ve had in decades.
Maybe Democrats should consider how obnoxious this slap in the face is to the millions who support Joe and who are working tirelessly to win the election, up and down the ballot.
Maybe Democrats who are trembling and having breakdowns should take a cue from the “frail” old man— “When you get knocked down, you get back up!”
Maybe Democrats should recognize that the media is completely biased against Biden and find a way forward without accepting their blather as gospel.
Maybe Democrats should dismantle this circular firing squad, quit picking our President to bits, and get behind him instead. The Republicans are marching in lockstep to vote for the most corrupt, dangerous, greedy, self-serving, vile human being it’s possible to imagine.
I guess I won’t be voting for Trump after all.
I’m sticking with a proven leader, a decent man, a good man, and will give him all the support I can. If Republicans can support that convicted felon no matter what, we should be proud to support the man who is his opposite in every way.
If you feel differently, perhaps you could answer Barnaby’s question: Why do you refuse to fight, why are you so defeatist and quick to despair? Find your spine and shine it up.
