History buffs will attest to the fact that the struggles of the powerful against the un-powerful have filled the ledgers of the various governing bodies of the world’s nations throughout the ages. Those who have assumed the mantel of “the rulers of mankind” have invented numerous schemes and posturing efforts to justify their elite status and self-appointed elevated purposes. Like an addict seeking to justify one’s habit, they program their minds to nominate themselves as divine clones of destiny who’s existence is to enforce proper behavior and social graces upon the masses. And like all addicts, they seek out similar peer groups to align themselves with to feel comfortable in their mutual elevated egos. Narcissistic behavior isn’t seen as a mental disorder, but is simply an accumulation of one’s elevated status and peer group leadership qualities. Like a cult of mammon worshiping neurotics, these self-appointed saviors seek to enforce their dictates upon the “graveling masses” through control of the systems related to social belief formation and enforcement.
Chief among these controlling groups are the oligarchs and the theocracy. The alignment between the mercantile and religious classes goes back to Egypt and probably beyond. If you can control the beliefs of the people, you can mold them into your serfdoms of produce and consume. Once you have them focused on this basic survival instinct, have implemented a program to insure their allegiance, and instituted a massive campaign of egotistical entitlement, you can then elevate yourself to a position of power because you control the disbursement of power. Fear is an ally of the powerful because it can instantly mold the un-powerful into the necessary pawns of the game the powerful have laid out.
The laws of the land have always either served this elite status grouping and/or helped protect the un-powerful from the overreaches of the powerful. The struggle for control of the laws becomes crucial in maintaining the balance between the powerful and the un-powerful. When the powerful assume the “divine” position of guardian of the morals and belief systems of the un-powerful, this imperfect, implemented, and un-natural balance becomes untenable. The neurosis created by these self-serving hypocrites infects the minds of every human soul within their serfdom. The current power grab by the religious right started several years ago. They have been priming themselves for this “takeover” for a long time and have positioned their minions in the positions of power needed to enforce their beliefs upon the non-believers. This is a game as old as the oceans and as dangerous as the historical evidences of past genocides. When you have “god” on your side, you aren’t really participating in a genocide, you are serving a “higher cause”. Might for right becomes a rallying call and a banner of innocent declarations.
The strains upon the social fabric of civil society can become twisted as the behaviors of the powerful become more and more neurotic. This neurosis, from my perspective and experience, comes from a serious detachment from the environment. A man detached from his environment is an island unto itself and what beliefs are invented to justify this abnormal behavior fills the history books. The more neurotic the powerful become the more the laws of the land must stand firm to hold the delicate balance between the powerful and the un-powerful in check. When the powerful feel they are losing ground, they immediately seek to realign the laws in their favor. The loss of control of power to these power addicts is equal to taking the needle away from the junkie. They will fight and lie to keep themselves in their elevated positions and their mammon addictions in place.
Now we are witnessing the cycle of repression the theocracy and oligarchs are planning in their attempt to hold onto their addictions. A resurgence of a divine presence represents to the narcissist, not a reason to rejoice, but a reason to fear loss of control. Consequently, they will seek to consolidate power as a means of protecting themselves from a loss that they and only they can imagine. Power shifts constantly between the powerful and the un-powerful and only those who can help protect the laws of the land that keep this delicate balance in place are serving the better purpose. We are seeing from the Supreme Court a very different purpose.
Disagreeing with the fundamentalist and/or right wing religious people does not automatically label me or anyone else as a liberal. Just because I happen to see you as a ground-less, neurotic, who is in denial, doesn’t mean that I am pigeon holed into one of your hated classifications. Myself, and others like me, could actually be the solution to your neurotic dilemma.
