Hey guys, guys...I was just about to send out 100 postcards for Joe. Should I leave the candidate’s name blank now? Maybe wait until too weeks before early voting, once we decide the perfect person for the job? I mean, maybe we should all take a pause and discuss who we can smoothly slot into the position for candidate for president of the USA.
Oh yeah, that’s right, we did that already: it is called primary season. Tell me, do we install a replacement with some ad hoc committee of senators and party insiders, thus enraging a huge chunk of our base forever, or do shred each other to pieces live at the convention in front of the TV cameras. Whatever happens, I am sure it is enough to win the heart of the NY Times, and that is what matters.
There are so many stupid takes on how Biden could step down, it absolutely beggars fucking belief, and makes me question what the fuck this party believes, or even if it can reason any more. So many backstabbing mother-effers in our own party, ensconced in a D.C. power bubble where the main rule is: “First, cover your own ass.” Even if the world is on fire….I would add.
In this particular universe it is imperative to believe the reflexive beltway bullshit wisdom over everything else, and to place the desires of some members of “the donor class” above the will of all others, especially the many millions and millions of “small donors” who actually represent votes and who will be fed to the wolves next year if we fail.
Michael Moore-- who i have not respected for a while now— seems to have developed full blown mad cow disease. He thinks Kamala Harris will naturally appeal to the disaffected youngsters in Michigan because she is stronger about the Gaza ceasefire question. Really? So we can completely piss off all the older blue-collar voters in those rust belt states by kicking one of our strongest pro-union presidents to the curb?
I really think Michael needs a cognitive test.
Perhaps most disgusting is the fake concern for Biden’s health, and the sickening ageist crap being doled out as selfless regard for his well-being: that is the real elder abuse. How do we think any of this will play out with the AARP crowd— one of our most reliable voting blocs.
Perhaps most nauseating are all those DC sharks jockeying for a position and power, who see this nothing more as an opportunity to advance their own personal agenda and careers. Assholes.
At least now I know who to trust if it ever came down to fighting fascism ( a distinct possibility soon!). The lack of solidarity and cowardice makes me want to vomit, but mainly, it is the unforgivingly shitty takes and tactics that I find so unforgivable…
And yes, I will support whoever is the nominee and vote like my life depends upon it, but if you really believe I am the norm— that this will energize the entire base to vote---I think you have lost your minds… toodles
