Welcome to another Saturday night of music, memories, and conversations!
Gentle reminder: Please continue putting the name of your artist selection in your comment along with your song. Those of us on our phones? We really appreciate it. And people using screen readers need this in order to identify the video.
You know how it works — Put your quarter in the slot and your song in the comments. This is your Saturday night jukebox and the party starts NOW!
So I was going to do a July 4th theme, but two days after the fact seems a little… I don’t know…. anti-climactic? Unnecessary? So instead, tonight’s theme is the word “and” [“Conjunction Junction, what’s that function?”]. I had originally considered it in terms of song titles, but it works for musical acts, as well. Gonna drop a few examples—not that I think that y’all don’t get it—but just to get the ball rolling…. and also because I prefer not to post much when I’m hosting. And before I forget, ampersands count!
If you didn’t know that I was gonna start with The Clash, you’re probably new to ASN—in which case, welcome!
The Clash :: Police and Thieves (Junior Murvin cover)
Despite the diary title, the ‘and’ doesn’t have to be limited to connecting only two categories. To wit:
Ian Dury :: Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll
And as I said above, here’s one where the ‘and’ is in the name of the musical act, as well as the song title.
Elvis Costello & the Attractions :: (What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding?
Thanks in advance to all for being here and playing along! To quote Phish from their appearance on The Simpsons:
