I’m not sure who this Propane Jane (from twitter) is, but she nails this. I’ve personally been trying to tie together a lot of what I’m seeing from the media and sections of the Democratic coalition. This makes a whole lot of sense.
*warning, it’s going to make some of you never trumpers and marginal Democrats very uncomfortable*
The “cut-and-run Democrats” (if they truly are Democrats and not just orphaned former R/Never trumpers or Bernie Bros) don’t want to acknowledge said system b/c they don’t want to be forced to choose between stopping fascism/America’s destruction or stopping their own misogynoir.
These are the same mostly White “moderate” pundits & electeds who thought Obama should be primaried/replaced & Hillary deserved a brokered convention instead of a “coronation”. They started ‘20 vilifying both PBO & HRC in favor of their preferred alternatives. Ain’t shit changed.
They’re still PISSED that despite their best efforts and media blitz to shove Bernie & the also-rans down our throats in the early stretch of the primary, we STILL voted for the most reliable White ally left on the stage and mobilized the Obama/Clinton coalition to nominate Joe.
Actually, they don’t even believe in Obama/Clinton coalition math as a workable, highly repeatable path to Democratic victory. They don’t want a strategy that begins with solidifying support from the base’s marginalized demographics, they’d rather start by prioritizing the WWC.
Which brings us back to the “cut-and-run” or as I like to call it, the “dissociative identity phase” of the election. White “moderates” who drifted left in the wake of the GOP’s sprint to fascism have no party to call home & are still trying to reshape the D party in their image.
IOW, they weren’t satisfied with Obama, Hillary or Biden and thought (still think) they knew better than the Democratic base who nominated all 3 of them despite the MSM and White “moderate” “cut-and-runs” imploring us not to and pestering us with anti-pragmatic alternatives.
They’re instigating & exploiting the controversy of a 90-minute debate performance in hopes that doing so will invalidate the pragmatic choice the Democratic base made in ‘20 and allow the folk who have no party to call home to replace Biden/Harris with someone WE haven’t chosen.
It’s downright Republicanesque, ain’t it? But really, what more could we expect from folks who either used to be Republicans or have always been Independents because they don’t want to fully align with or be reliable allies to the *predominantly Black woman Democratic base*?
Bottom line is they aren’t just cutting and running from Biden/Harris, they’re cutting and running from reliable White allyship. Their refusal to be led by the pragmatism of a multicultural, marginalized coalition is the MAIN reason America’s besieged by Trump, the GOP & fascism.
