The New York Times misquoted Joe Biden in its story about last night’s ABC interview. This is the misquote posted on the Times’ website (second to last line of linked story) that Times reporters and Maureen Dowd and — but of course — the frothing commenters have turned into a meme
“I’ll feel as long as I gave it my all, and I did the goodest job as I know I can do, that’s what this is about,” Mr. Biden said.”
www.nytimes.com/...
Joe Biden did NOT fucking say “goodest”!
Go back and actually listen to what he said, at about 21:50 to 21:56 of the ABC posting of the interview.
abcnews.go.com/...
And even the ABC transcript shows this:
PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: I'll feel as long as I gave it my all and I did the good as job as I know I can do...”
I thought he said, “…as good as a job…”, but “goodest”? No fucking way.
Proof positive that someone at the New York Times — who is undoubtedly much younger than Joe Biden — has has a cognition problem.
Or my cynical self tells me this was deliberate, because it fits the NYT pattern of creating a narrative that others latch onto and repeat…because they are the so-called “newspaper of record”.
The Times owes its readers, America, and Joe Biden an explanation and a fucking apology.
But hey; Maureen Dowd made some hay with it, and now it has circled the globe.
Mission accomplished.
