Just an observation:
I spend quite a lot of time in northeastern Alabama, which is deep red and socially conservative. Today there was a “Trump boat parade” on the lake. It was organized on the local Facebook group.
That’s not surprising, not at all, but there were interesting features:
- Very low turnout. The participants shared pictures on Facebook. While they claimed hundreds of boats, there were about six.
- There were derisive comments about Trump in the Facebook group — including an entire new post — “How about we organize a parade to honor a …” Followed by a complete list of the orange menace’s failings.
- The push-back to the comments was not exactly strong.
I haven’t seen anything that even vaguely approaches the enthusiasm for the republicans I saw in 2016 and 2020. I’ve never seen anti-Trump comments on the local Facebook group.
I know this is anecdotal but it is encouraging.
