Many people I encounter have not heard of, or barely know about, Project 2025. That’s a shame. I have no doubt that if a majority of voters truly understood what it is about, we could have a significant blue wave in November.
Meteor Blades suggests DKos should publish more diaries on this topic. I wholeheartedly agree. Although DKos readers tend to be politically knowledgeable, and it may seem like preaching to the choir, the diaries can get exposure outside the DKos community.
Maybe a series of diaries, each one focusing on a particular aspect of Project 2025 and exposing it in detail, explaining what it means in practice, and anticipating the consequences if the proposed policy were to be implemented.
But, before doing that, consider the following…
“Project 2025” is a benign name. It is generic and sounds like it’s about something good. It could refer to a major infrastructure project, or a University’s fundraising drive, or a company coming out with a great product next year.
But we know better. And we should try to change that perception.
Project 2025 is about destroying our democracy and turning our beloved USofA into a (White) Christian Nationalist totalitarian state. It is no exaggeration to say that Project 2025 is the Republican version of Hitler’s Mein Kampf, published in 1925, exactly a century before 2025 (is that a hint?)
For that reason, I think Democracy would be better served if we refer to Project 2025 using a short phrase that is actually descriptive of its intent.
My preference is, “Republican Fascist Manifesto.”
A second option is, “Blueprint for a Fascist America.”
If you have other suggestions, please write them in the comments, keeping in mind that — for this idea to be effective — we need to develop consensus on using a single specific phrase that serves the purpose and actually has sticking power.
Thank you for reading!
