Former Principal Deputy Solicitor General of the United States Neil Katyal explains the legal ramifications of Project 2025 and what our country could face should Americans vote for a second Trump term. His explanation is premised upon the US Supreme Court decision which granted Presidential immunity for “official conduct”. Project 2025 is a fascist manifesto penned by key officials and figures in the Trump orbit and it lays out in meticulous detail what his regime hopes to accomplish should he gain power. At its core, it aims to gut the system of checks and balances which prevents the concentration and corruption of power in the Executive branch by eliminating the professional class of apolitical civil servants and replacing them with far-right loyalists. Without Agency independence, the members of the DOJ and the FBI can be used as the dictatorial President’s personal henchmen to investigate and prosecute anyone who is perceived as insufficiently loyal to the dictator. This action would free an Imperial President to use the significant powers of his office to violate the basic freedoms we take for granted. Notwithstanding DJT’s attempts to repackage the main points contained therein and rename it Agenda 47 to avoid frightening the masses, a thorn by any other name will still wound. By placing the President above the law, SCOTUS has removed the legal guardrail which would have made the implementation of the manifesto well-nigh impossible. Bearing these points in mind, watch Katyal’s interview on MSNBC with Jen Psaki at the 6:27 mark in the video here: www.msnbc.com/…
