Say it out loud: “Taxes are good for billionaires!”
Notice how that feels good to say out loud. Say it again, and again for good measure. Imagine that ringing through the minds of every American voter, again and again. Imagine candidates expounding on this with passion, explaining the details of how billionaires benefit, something like what Elizabeth Warren says at times. It would be cool if this really caught on. Better minds than mine have looked at this and are better equipped to express this, but I like the idea.
Taxes ARE good for billionaires! Taxes pay for the roads and bridges that business needs to succeed. Taxes pay for the education of workers, for their social security and their healthcare. Taxes pay for police and fire protection, for clean and safe infrastructure. Taxes pay for regulating commerce, for managing supply chains and defense of freedom. And so much more.
Democrats are committed to keeping tax rates as they are for incomes up to $400,000. And beyond that it seems only fair that they pay for the privilege of doing business in the wealthiest country in the world. Taxes are good for billionaires!
Raising taxes to cover our deficit spending and expand social security and medicare makes a lot of sense, eliminating tax provisions that favor those in the billionaire stratosphere.
Someone ought to take this on as a campaign slogan — Taxes are good for billionaires! and drive the point home repeatedly and creatively as often as possible, turning it into a a meme that stays in people’s minds…
Taxes are good for billionaires!
