I am originally from Ames, Iowa. I moved to the Baltimore, Maryland area in 1985. We moved to Bonita Springs Fl in May of 2021 and to Village Walk of Naples in April of 2022. I was born on September 22nd,1941, and I'm still in very good health. I eat organic food and get plenty of exercise walking my 6 year-old Husky for over a mile every morning.
I'm the Democratic candidate for Florida House of Representatives in District 82, which includes Hendry County, part of N.E. Collier County and a large part of the everglades swamp and grassland. All my life, I have felt an urge to give back to my community and make it a better place for everyone to live in and not be inadvertently exposed to cancer causing chemicals that they have no control over.
I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture & Turf Management (Iowa State University) and had ten years’ experience as a Golf Course Superintendent (Greens Keeper) before entering the IT industry. I have always been passionate about the environment and its relationship to human health and wellbeing. I have written many articles on the environment, soil, water, and wildlife.
As a longtime Democrat, I believe in fundamental human dignity and will fight for the right for patients to have freedom to make their own medical decisions with their doctor. In my campaign, I am seeking to understand and uplift the concerns and needs of my community and help us forge a healthier, cleaner Florida! Climate is of great concern. We must preserve our democracy. Diversity of culture and orientation must be respected. Please contact me anytime with questions.
My top three issues are:
- Pesticide pollution in Florida is poisoning people, pets and wildlife. It's important for everyone to have access to beaches, forests, and springs. That's why I support wildlife conservation efforts.
Pesticides are killing our wildlife and destroying native habitat. We can advocate for banning pesticides like Glyphosate, organophosphates, and Neonicotinoids.
- Overreach of the Florida Legislature in preventing local jurisdictions from regulating the use of fertilizer and pesticides.
- The government should not interfere in personal medical decisions between Floridians and their doctors. Abortion bans are in direct conflict with Hippocratic oaths doctors take to protect their patients. Doctors and nurses should not have to risk criminal prosecution to treat the patient in front of them.
