The Spiridellis brothers have a new video out under their
Jibjab monicker. Unlike their first big hit, "This Land," which was almost "fair and balanced," their new title, "In D.C. Land" is a complete giveaway to the Bush/Cheney ticket.
First of all, they've gone from folk music to antebellum nostalgia by satirizing the song "Dixie", which can be a coded way to appeal to white supremacists. Next, after a mild slap on the wrist at Cheney for his relationship with Halliburton and how their support drove BC2000's campaign, the video shifts gears and starts gay-taunting.
Please take the poll.
Remember the "they can't keep their hands off each other" meme the freepers so enjoyed? It's baaaaaack. And after this charming image of Kerry and Edwards about to engage in homosexual acts, cut to the two presidential tickets, and Edwards is waving his Speedo-clad butt in our faces.
And here's James McGreevey, who doesn't have anything to do with D.C. Land, but what the hey? They're so gay! So they'll stay! Make 'em pay! Check out the lavender shirt he's wearing (and the pants he isn't wearing); it says "GAY American" on it. Isn't that sweet?
The Spiridellis brothers idea of a balanced video? It gay-bashes Republicans too! Ashcroft and McCain (he swings both ways!) are brought in next verse. An article (one of many who fail to note the homophobia in the video, let alone the lack of even-handedness) notes that they picked Ashcroft because he was the "straightest" Republican they knew.
A number of people who saw "This Land" told me they felt it was far nastier to Kerry than Bush. I didn't agree at first but now see their point; Bush was condemned for being stupid, and at one point was called "a right-wing nut-job." Kerry was nailed for bragging about his medals, getting botox injections, having lots of money, being in thrall to the UN (dressed in a leather harness while whupped by Kofi Annan and Jacques Chirac), a rich heiress's plaything (shown grabbing a huge bottle of Heinz ketchup), and resembling Herman Munster.
Well, this one's way beyond it. In approximate order, the messages are:
- Bush is worried he's not going to win
- So Cheney will call Halliburton to help
- They write a big $100,000,000 check
- Kerry supported by terrorists such as Osama bin Ladin and Kim Jong Il (hmmm, that's one of Cheney's recent talking points)
- Kerry looks orange!
- But first he's going to get kissy with Edwards
- And now they're naked in bed!
- McGreevey is gay!
- And maybe Kerry and Edwards are too, they're not telling!
- Cheney gave Edwards the finger but we didn't show it, and we bleeped out when he said "shit" too! (I guess a cartoon finger needs to be censored but not 80 seconds of gay-bashing.)
- Bush & Cheney got to DC through oil money
- Kerry got there via his wife's fortune from ketchup
- Edwards got there because he has a cute butt
- McGreevey is still gay
- Dan Rather can't be trusted to report the news
- Bill Clinton is still tomcatting around, even in the hospital recovering from his surgery, and Hillary is still pissed at him
- The Supreme Court chose the winner of the 2000 election (never specified who that was)
- McCain plays both sides! He might be gay!
- John Ashcroft is gay! Hooray! Hooray!
- Be sure to vote (despite the SC image earlier).
Okay, please watch this thing and share your impressions. I really believe it's disgustingly homophobic and incredibly tilted toward Bush.
Sigh. My still captures won't show on dKos, probably something to do with the server on blogger. Go to Jesus' General and see them there.
