Once again, the internet has the chance to point it's finger at those who show their true colors in light of one of the world's most tragic events in history.
Media Matters for America is reporting that nationally syndicated radio host Michael Savage has declared that rain in San Fransciso is more deserving of foreign aid than victims of the recent tsunami.
His rationale? It's God's will:
You could take the argument that it's God's will, it's too bad and let's move on. And then let others help them. They're not in our sphere of interest.
Amazing how a man can claim to be a Christian and so divide himself from his neighbor. Savage has lots more like this...
Tell me how it is that people don't rise up in the streets against such monstrosities and escort them out of town. People of this caliber belong a safe distance from children, not given radio shows. I'm not a practicing Christian myself (more on the agnostic), but I come from the Midwest and I know real Christians. I know people who actually do God's work. I may have some theological differences with some of them, but many I know are out on the frontlines helping their fellow man.
With statements like:
If you are a God-believing, God-fearing person, I am sure at some point you ask yourself, wait a minute. The epicenter of this earthquake and the resulting tidal wave was adjacent to the sex trade island of Phuket, Thailand ... and then it knocked out many, many regions of Indonesia, some of which are the most vicious recruiting grounds for Islamic terrorists. That's a fact of reality.
This is the AIDS argument redux. It's hatred wrapped inside an excuse. Anything bad that happens to those I deem a sinner is god's hand and therefore morally sound. Anything bad that happens to me is simply unfair. Savage is instantly making a strict judgement call - he is one of God's people and therefore not burdened with worry about those that aren't.
Such hatred is morally abominable. And real Christians should take note - this guy is making you look bad.
