Hello all,
Short diary but I thought Kossacks would like to see this you tube from Lady Gaga.
I will embed and link.
More below the fold.
I wasn't too impressed with Gaga until I saw her more recent videos (Paparazzi etc) and realized she indeed has some talent and creative vision. I am not a big club music girl but the visuals and the interesting dark interpretations she took on her own songs intrigued me. I knew she had spoken out about gay rights on several occasions and she has just posted a You Tube re: DADT. In it she explains how to contact your Rep or Senator or call the SLDN (Service Members Legal Defense Network) to make your voice heard.
Gaga, like Angelina Jolie uses her celebrity status for excellent causes and I think they should be applauded for it. So her you go folks. (From an artistic standpoint I found the choice to shoot the video in Black and White almost as interesting as the subject matter. Brings a stark seriousness to her and the topic at hand. ).

Some excerpts:
The video begins with Gaga addressing, “To my fellow Americans, the Senate, Senators John McCain—Arizona, Mitch McConnell—Kentucky, James Inhofe—Oklahoma, Jeff Sessions—Alabama, and youth all over the world who are watching.”
The Defense Authorization Bill is up for vote in the Senate, with McConnell and McCain denouncing it because of the inclusion of a repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”, a law that went into effect under the Clinton administration.
“‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ is a law that was created in 1993 that prevents gays from serving openly in the military. Since then 14,000 Americans have been discharged from the armed forces, refused the right to serve their country and sent home, regardless of honorable service or how valuable they were to their units,” says Gaga, who brought members of SLDN.org with her on the MTV VMAs white carpet on Sunday.
“We are not asking you to agree with or approve the moral implications of homosexuality, we’re asking you to do your job, to protect the constitution,” she continues. “As majority leader Harry Reid said, anyone who is willing to fight for this country should have the same civil opportunities to do so as anyone else. ”
Soldiers are being searched, superiors are going through their emails and private belongings, calling family members, and operating based on assumptions. Ultimately, the law is being enforced using gay profiling, and gay soldiers have become targets. In short, not only is the law unconstitutional, but it's not even being properly or fairly enforced by the government
