Trump voters probably don’t know that tariffs are a violation of free market dogma. A real gutshot to the free market. But Republican legislators — in theory, anyway — should expect to be held to a higher level of accountability than their uneducated bases of support. So CNN, NBC, ABC, all of you… here’s the message and the question that you ask Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, and every other hypocritical R that “supports” President Dumbshit and his “form” of getting Mexico to pay for his fence (the proposal is a fence, not a wall, don’t leave that part out…)
“Representative/Senator Numbnuts, how do you square the Republican party’s long held belief in the foolproof nature of the free market with the new Republican president — in his first week in office — calling for tariffs to fund his border fence. Measures that fly in the face of the philosophy you so strongly believe in?”
Repeat at every opportunity.
Shorter, more K.I.S.S. friendly —
Tariffs are 100% against free market principles. Explain why you are supporting them to build the Trump fence.
For a quick refresher on tariffs and free markets, the following excerpt provides more than 99% of Trump true believers will ever know on the topic. Those that try to read further probably won’t understand anything that follows, and they’ll likely start to associate “Neoclassical economic theorists” with “stupid liberals” in their minds. But they will notice Republicans squirm when asked the question.

Neoclassical economic theorists tend to view tariffs as distortions to the free market. Typical analyses find that tariffs tend to benefit domestic producers and government at the expense of consumers, and that the net welfare effects of a tariff on the importing country are negative.
Finally — make sure to keep calling it “the fence”. Since, after all, it is the “Secure Fence Act of 2006” that Republicans think they can ram this home under. And, as you can ask millions of consumers, investors, and businesspeople — When you “buy Trump”, it’s likely that you won’t get what you paid for. So you were sold a “great wall”... but you end up with a fence.
Probably made out of the wrong materials and won’t hold up outside for 2 seasons. Or used for firewood by the people it was built to keep out. Either completely incompetent outcome is reasonable from this administration and Congress.
