Today, Daily Kos announced key findings from a national Supreme Court survey commissioned through Civiqs. The national poll of 2,139 adults was conducted online from Sept. 29-30 and reveals a strong preference for further investigation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh by the FBI (56 percent) and that Americans are less likely to vote to re-elect their U.S. senators if they vote to confirm Kavanaugh (49 percent less likely, 37 percent more likely). Additionally, women firmly oppose Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court (54 percent) and believe Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s claims over Kavanaugh’s (53-40 percent).
“Daily Kos commissioned this important poll to shine a light on Americans’ real positions on Trump’s disastrous Supreme Court nominee,” said Carolyn Fiddler, communications director for Daily Kos. “The best antidote to hot takes and the right-wing echo chamber is hard data. The results of this Civiqs survey reveals key insights into how men and women from each party, every region, and various demographic groups view Kavanaugh’s nomination and last week’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearings—and how this could impact their choices at the ballot box in November.”
“The country is polarized around the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court,” said Civiqs director and chief scientist Drew Linzer. “But a solid majority of Americans oppose his confirmation. An even greater number—including many current Kavanaugh supporters—want to see the FBI investigation move forward.”
