There’s another liar that helps Sarah Huckabee Sanders shovel the stench coming out of the current administration, and his name is Hogan Gidley. Yes, it’s a real name and not something a dime-store Westerns novelist from the turn of the 20th century wrote. He was on MSNBC Tuesday to defend Trump’s pathetic handling of relief efforts in Puerto Rico. Earlier in the day the Donald decided to go to his Twitter account and post up this mess.
It’s not true. So far, as the Washington Post detailed, Puerto Rico has received possibly $15 billion. The $91 billion number being thrown around is simply one of the early estimates of the damages caused by Hurricane Maria … to Puerto Rico. That didn’t stop Gidley from re-upping that lie to Hallie Jackson on MSNBC.
Gidley: They’re getting 91 billion dollars, those are in pledges—
Jackson: That’s not what the president said. He said they got the 91 billions dollars—
Gidley: They got it in pledges.
Yes. It’s hard to keep your brain from short-circuiting while listening to this bullshit. But Gidley makes sure to drive the point home that he represents ignorance and racism and xenophobia.
Gidley: All we have done in that country is—we have systematic mismanagement of the goods and services we’ve sent to them…
The “systematic mismanagement” is this other racist trope that the Trump administration has been throwing at Puerto Rico the past few months and has been not only investigated by Trump’s own government, but found to be NOT TRUE AT ALL.
Gidley has since told MSNBC that calling a United States territory “that country” was a “slip of the tongue.”
