Apparently a little thing like starting, then pausing, a war, and leaving half the nation’s military swirling around the Persian Gulf in confusion, isn’t enough of a distraction for Donald Trump’s morning. He took time away from his detailed military planning to take to Twitter and plop down a brand new the-media-is-out-to-get-me conspiracy theory.
According to Trump, The New York Times was “feeding false stories about me, and those associated with me, to the FBI.” Trump then says that this shows how the Times had “unprecedented hatred” toward him. In follow-up tweets, Trump even blames the Times for initiating the Russia investigation.
What’s actually behind this enormous media and FBI conspiracy that’s so important Trump took time out from starting a war to whine about it? Just this—A New York Times reporter called the FBI and asked for confirmation on a story they were already working on concerning Jared Kushner. And when the Times ran the story three days later, it mentioned that it had called the FBI for that confirmation.
But now right wing media sources have apparently obtained the email asking the FBI to confirm the story. Which, like the word “insurance” in a tweet is being ripped into pieces and turned into “proof” that the media was feeding stories to the FBI to initiate investigations. Which is wasn’t. But confirmation starts with a ‘c’ and conspiracy starts with a ‘c’ so … how much proof do you need?
And now, back to your already scheduled war-related chaos.
