Sen. Susan Collins is at the Severe Fret Level over the racist occupier of the Oval Office tweeting racist things. But, in true Collins fashion, she trips all over herself to scold Trump while telling the world that she condemns those socialist anti-Semites in the House who hate cops.
Coming a day and a half after Trump's racist tweet targeting four of her fellow members of Congress, Collins' sternly worded statement is, well, pathetic. "I disagree strongly with many of the views and comments of some of the far-left members of the House Democratic Caucus," she says, warming up to "especially when it comes to their views on socialism, their anti-Semitic rhetoric, and their negative comments about law enforcement." Wait, I thought this was supposed to be about Trump. Wasn't this supposed to be about Trump?
Oh, right. His "tweet that some Members of Congress should go back to the 'places from which they came' was way over the line, and he should take that down." That's telling him. Way over the line. Boy howdy, when you're way over Collins' line, she'll do ... nothing?
Seriously, she had well over a day to come up with something to show that she's not a toady for Trump, that, regardless of party, her colleagues in one of the three co-equal branches of Congress deserve respect, and that she'll stand up to him alongside them. For them. For herself. For all the people of color in this country he is threatening.
But it's Susan Collins. Of course she's not going to do that. She wants to win an election next year.
Don't let her get away with it. Please give $1 to help Democrats in each of these crucial Senate races, but especially the one in Maine!
