It looks like Newt Gingrich, and I can only assume all Republicans, are on board with fully investigating the torture authorizations.
Gingrich said Pelosi "lied to the House" when she earlier claimed that the CIA had never briefed her about the Bush administration's use of interrogation methods like waterboarding, which is considered torture by the current administration.
"I think that the House has an absolute obligation to open an inquiry, and I hope there will be a resolution to investigate her. And I think this is a big deal. I don't think the speaker of the House can lie to the country on national security matters," the Republican leader said in an interview with ABC Radio.
Frankly its a breath of fresh air to see the Republicans now fully on board with investigating torture. Since he's so willing to investigate Nancy Pelosi--one of the highest ranking leaders in the nation--surely he's on board with investigating any and all who were involved, no matter what their position was, right? As an upright and honest former leader, surely Gingrich will come out any day now in support of investigating Rumsfeld, Cheney, Rice, Yoo...
Right?
