I voted for Bernie in the Primary, but now that Hillary is the candidate I intend to vote for her. And like I have done every election cycle for years, I put my money where my mouth is and donate to the campaign.
But money doesn’t seem to be helping Hillary. Trump is still fairly unorganized, but he generates more media coverage than a Kardashian. He’s working the campaign like a scripted out reality TV show. He’s the bad boy who says whatever he wants and has a shady past that he won’t talk about. But gosh darn it he just “gets” the average voter. Even today, CNN has a front page story about “How Trump Gets America on Terror Issue”. Don’t scoff and say “well yeah, that’s just CNN”. They’re not saying that about Hillary. He’s gone from the character everyone hates, to a reborn everyman who deserves a second chance.
I don’t know why so much of the country seems to be leaning toward Trump. I’m sure the answers are long, varied, probably nuanced, and have social, educational, and economic roots. That’s great if you’re looking for a dissertation topic for your Ph.D.
In the meantime, out here in the world of “this is actually happening!” what, Hillary, what are you going to do about it? How are you going to turn this thing around. And don’t send me another email (or from Obama, Biden, or anyone of the 10 other people who shout doom and gloom over the internet at me each day). Just fix it first. Show us how you’re going to do this in 49 days, and start to do it. Then maybe I’ll reach back into my wallet.
I know you have a 43 point plan for this, and a 12 point plan for that. Yay. But no one is paying attention. It’s your emails, your health, and can you be trusted. And you have to give props to Trumps new campaign manager. She completely owned Bill Maher the other night (She did. We all know it, just no one wants to admit it because it’s Bill Maher). She has turned this thing around for him, and there is no effective response from your campaign.
PLEASE! I’m begging you on behalf of the majority of Americans like myself who believe Trump will be a disaster for the US, and for the world...do something! You have to find it somehow, make the connection. We keep hearing about how one on one you’re amazing, thoughtful, and effective. Find a way to parlay that into connecting with the American people. No lies (not that you really have), no misdirection (maybe a bit, yes?) no deflecting. If you screwed up admit it, apologize, and move on. Don’t throw any monkey wrenches into the works, don’t add that one extra smug sentence at the end of a beautiful answer. Follow KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid).
Don’t screw this up. Because right now, we’re losing.
