So we now have a pattern of the Democratic party in what appears to be shambles:
- ridiculous votes condeming free speech (I mean against the Move-on.org ad)
- impeachment off the table was reinforced yesterday
- the Kyl-Lieberman vote that Bush will probably use to go to war with Iran
- the vote to expand Bush's illegal wiretapping program in August
and on and on.
I'm fed up!
Now I'm a pretty hardcore Democrat. I've campaigned for a lot Dems over the years, and have prett much voted party line as well. But I can't take it anymore.
So I read about the Green Party. Nader has magnified the image of them being far left-wing. But they're platform is much closer to what I thought the Dems platform really is.
I filled out a voter regidtration card with a change of party from Dem to Green.
Should I mail it?
Will the Dems get their act together, or is it really just more of the same? Forget about whether a Green wil actually win. Forget what Nader did in 2000. This is all about what I believe and stand for compared to what the Democratic party is actually doing (or not doing).
So talk me out of it, talk me into it. But at what point (and I'm still trying to decide it) do I put a stamp on the card and send it in to change parties. Why stick with the dems? They are not in just a slump, but have clearly gone in a direction that does not represent the values I thought they did.
Thoughts??
