I was watching C-SPAN3 this afternoon, when as part of their American History TV series, they played Newt Gingrich's and Bill Clinton's speeches soon after the the 1994 midterm elections, when the GOP won 54 seats in the House, the year of the "Contract with America."
It's amazing how familiar they seem. It's amazing how good Bill Clinton is... (You may fall in love with him all over again.)
Congressional Transition
Newt Gingrich, November 9, 1994
Approx. 23 min.
Post-Election Democratic Policy
Bill Clinton, December 6, 1994
Approx. 33 min.
These will also be reshown on C-SPAN3 at odd hours over the next couple of days. (Times are available at the link sites; click "Details," then "Airing Details.")
Please forgive me for the short diary. I found both addresses absolutely riveting (in very different ways) and wanted to share them.
