Well as you folks know here in Minnesota we had some, er, Vigorous weather this past week. When the forecasts started coming in, we had poor Mayfield KY before us on the TV as an object lesson.
So Dad and I got the heck out of Dodge for the night. With the kind of weather they were forecasting as possible, we would be sitting ducks here in the trailer court. We each needed to go someplace where folks had an extra garage space for each car. So Dad went and spent the night with his former next door neighbor in the old neighborhood, and I spent the night with my Aunt Karen.
I took the boys with, of course. And what a struggle to get them both into one cat carrier. If this experience has taught me anything, it’s that they each need their own. Up to now it hasn’t been an issue, but there’s always that first time……….
So I drove way across town and spent the night with Auntie Karen. Very nice of her to take us all in, and she was actually a lot better with the kitties than I expected her to be. I forgot she does have experience catsitting for my cousin’s late kitty Blue.
Well. Buzzy the Perfect Brownnoser (hey that’s not MY name for him — that is what Dad calls him) was, as expected, the perfect little houseguest. Made himself right at home, relaxed instantly, looked around her house with interest, and schmoozed with Auntie Karen all evening. A perfect little gentleman.
Marvin was……………….different than that. He cried all the way over, when freed from the carrier he ran for her basement and hid down there the whole time except for a little trip upstairs in the wee hours to visit me in the spare room where I was sleeping.
He never did come out. We had a heck of a time tracking him down when it was time to go. And this is where Auntie Karen is kind of lacking in cat savvy. She is pretty good with them, as I said, but she does not understand that following a scared kitty all over the basement with a big towel in your hand poised to throw over him, and talking REAL LOUD (83 and kind of deaf) the whole time, is not the way to reassure a scared puddy tat. I’ve got a few good scratches from that trip up the basement stairs, let me tell you.
And then, once I had him in the carrier, I realized that there was NO WAY in you know what that I was going to be able to open it and get Buzz in there too. Marvin would be out in a flash and it would be to do all over again. So, the day after the storm, I made TWO trips across town, first with Marvin, then back over there for Buzz. Buzz, who was a perfect boy and got right in the carrier when asked. If only they were all like that. He is that way at the vet too. They love him there.
But I still love my problem child, even if he is Trouble on a Stick.
Happy Monday all! Is your Christmas shopping all done? Plans in place? Happy Holidays to all!
A gentle reminder of how we do things: 🐱🐶🐦
- Do not troll the diary. If you hate pootie diaries, leave now. No harm, no foul.
- Please do share pics of your fur kids! If you have health/behavior issues with your pets, feel free to bring it to the community.
- Pooties are cats; Woozles are dogs. Birds... are birds! Peeps are people.
- Whatever happens in the outer blog STAYS in the outer blog. If you’re having “issues” with another Kossack, keep it “out there.” This is a place to relax and play; please treat it accordingly.
- There are some pics we never post: snakes, creepy crawlies, any and all photos that depict or encourage human cruelty toward animals. These are considered “out of bounds” and will not be tolerated. If we alert you to it, PLEASE REMOVE THE PIC FROM THE IMAGE LIBRARY. If you keep posting banned pics...well then...the Tigress will have to take matters in hand. Or, paw.
