Any fan of Ohio State football knows the wonders and frustrations of our coach, Jim Tressel. Brilliant, even-tempered, commanding, and focused, Tressel is one of the nation's greatest college football coaches. He also has a fatal flaw, one that has driven Buckeye Nation crazy the last couple of national title games: an unwillingness to improvise, ditch the game plan, and adapt to new circumstances. Once Tressel devises a game plan, he sticks to it. Come hell, high water, or incredibly fast Florida linebackers.
I see very similar attributes in the Obama campaign. Brilliant, focused, motivated, and intent on executing the game plan - regardless of whether or not the game plan is working. And just like Tressel and Ohio State, partisans will say that the game plan has always worked in the past, so give coach the benefit of the doubt, I'm sure it'll work again. If OSU can beat Michigan, then obviously they'll beat Florida. Not necessarily. Not all opponents are equal.
