Two independent, cheerful working women are no where to be seen on CBS's Two Broke Girls, set in Williamsburg. I can't help but suggest that people today enjoy watching women work in a role such as a waitress, as opposed to a factory, because a factory is not the type of workplace you can film a show around anymore. Not only that, but in a factory, woman is triumphant over machine. In Laverne and Shirley, most of the episodes were set in the apartment. In Two Broke Girls, most of the episode is filmed in the restaurant. They have a manager, who has more prominence than a conveyer belt. It's as if filming a realistic apartment size today would be awkward for someone working as a waitress today- in Williamsburg. But not Milwaukee. If Two Broke Girls were set in Milwaukee, today, it would be Laverne and Shirley 2! The Girls would not be broke, and they would not have to film the episodes in the restaurant because their studio is too small. They would be able to afford a 1,000 square foot condominium, and it would be just like Laverne and Shirley. Please bring back Laverne and Shirley. I would watch them today if they are still up for another role. Is feminism taking a step backwards? Goodbye.
