Reddit calls itself the “front page of the internet”, and while some may dispute that, one cannot deny that it gets 8-9 million unique hits from US alone. These are big numbers. Beyond the traffic, Reddit often sets the agenda, whether it’s viral content, memes, or ideas which invariably trickle into “aggregators” like Buzzfeed, Facebook, Twitter and the like. Love it or hate it, its impact is hard to ignore.
I’m sure most of you are familiar with Reddit and how it operates. So lets take a look at raw subscriber count for the official campaign subreddits:
www.reddit.com/… Bernie Sanders: 186,991 total subscribers
www.reddit.com/… Hillary Clinton: 4,023 total subscribers
It’s not even close. Look at the growth on Bernie’s sub vs. Hillary’s. Hillary has been flatlining since her campaign began. But don’t take my word for it, visit both subs and judge them on quality and daily activity as well and you’ll immediately notice where the excitement is.
What’s the conclusion to be drawn from this? Hillary’s campaign is really bad at this internet thing. Ask yourself, when we enter into the general election, who has a better chance of pumping out viral content to counter Republican propaganda?
