It is with heavy heart that I write this diary - my first on DailyKos after being around for over 5 years now. In a word - I'm shy and sometimes this is a scary place for diarists. That being said, however, an incident has been in the news in the last few days about the CEO of GoDaddy (Bob Parsons) who hunted down a "problem" elephant, and had the murder of this elephant videotaped for all to see and apparently, rejoice and think of him as such a manly man.
This has caused somewhat of a furor and there are calls to boycott GoDaddy, which you can read about by Googling "boycott GoDaddy". I am asking those who find this deed abominable, to join the boycott, as I am doing.
The braggard's video was in the news yesterday on MSNBC and Huffington Post, and I did not - could not - watch it, but I did read the article which is posted here:
http://www.examiner.com/... . I have several domains with GoDaddy, and my webmaster has many years of doing business with this company. After I emailed him the link to the story and the video:

he quickly responded that he would immediately end his association with this company and talk to his other web clients about moving their (and my) hosting accounts. He is now working on finding a new host for me as well, and we will be very vocal about why we are leaving.
In the meantime, while looking for a new host, I have stumbled upon (through the "boycott GoDaddy" search, in the first link to come up) an alternate domain/hosting company called namecheap.com who are stepping up to the plate and offering to cut their rates for anyone who wants to make the switch from GoDaddy, and donating 10% of the $4.99 transfer fee to Savetheelephants.org
I don't know anything about this company, but their offer expires at 11:59 pm EST tonight, and I would like some feedback from anyone who has had dealings with this company, or knows of a better one.

I also ask anyone who has business dealings with GoDaddy to join me and so many others in this meaningful boycott, please, and pass it on.
UPDATE: The Humane Society of the U.S. is dropping GoDaddy, who was their domain host for over 650 domains! Article here, and worth reading to hear about this jerk's other hunting exploits:
