For as long as I live, I will never understand how any minority or "different" group of people could be supportive of the Republican party, especially in today's toxic political environment where the hatred, disdain and disgust of us is front and center and in-your-face for African Americans, Mexicans, persons of Middle Eastern descent, the French, the poor and certainly the LGBT community is front and center.
Of course, I have also come to learn that there are three distinct types of Republicans: (1) those who profess to be Christian, despite the fact that they don't practice the principals of Christianity according to Jesus; (2) those who are Republican because of the financial benefits of being so, and who are more than willing to sell out the less fortunate in order to ensure they personally benefit; and (3) those who rely on that lame and old tired line of "I was raised a Republican and for that reason, I'll always be a Republican", despite the fact that if they are middle-classed Republicans they will suffer the same fate as a Democractic middle-class person.
