In a conference call held today, Obama national field director Jon Carson asserted that according to early voting numbers Obama is holding a meaningful lead.

It seems that all is not well on the right-wing front. While the MSM and the blogger-sphere have been obsessing about Democratic unity, Republican unity has been falling apart.

Poor McCain is facing some challenges not only from his most charismatic democratic rival, but from the inner echelons of his party. All sorts of rumblings have been coming from his own colleagues on the hill, conservative intellectual symbols, bloggers and policy makers.

On May 1st the 1st part of a the 5 part documentary series War Without End aired on AlJazzera.
The series looks back at 5 years of the Iraq war revisiting the pivotal events and policies that have morphed operation Iraq freedom into never-ending Iraq occupation. .

The first part of the series begins on May 1st 2003.. Mission Accomplished. Al Jazeera's Hoda Abdel Hamid tells the story with concise contextual facts, firsthand analysis form those involved at the time and never before seen footage.

This is an Iraq on the ground documentary, focusing on events that happened in the public eye and how we see them today in light of hindsight.

The story I am about to relate to you is non-political, it is not personal either. It is a story that is unfolding right this moment in the small town of Amstetten, in central Austria.

On the 19th of this month a young girl of 19 years was brought into hospital by her grandfather Josef Fritzl in serious physical condition, she was unconscious and suffering from a mysterious combination of illnesses amongst which is Renal Failure.

When questioned by doctors about his granddaughter Kerstin's condition Mr. Fritzl produced a note from the girl's mother, his daughter Elizabeth, stating that he found the girl unconscious at the doorstep of his house.

Apparently his daughter, Kerstin's mother, had run away to a join a cult 24 years ago and that he had not seen her since.

The Doctors, unable to diagnose Kerstin without a proper medical history, appealed to the mother to come forward to help aid in her critically ill daughter's treatment.

Miraculously, not long after the appeal went out, Mr Fritzl appeared at the hospital with his daughter Elisabeth and her two children Stefan and Felix. He claimed that she, his daughter, has decided to finally "come home".

Just when everyone in the Obama camp is hoping to put the race issue behind them and return to the substantive issue's American politics, along comes John Kerry.

According to MSNBC, via NBC/NJ's Mike Memoli; In an interview giving to a N.H. newspaper on Tuesday, Kerry speaking on the race speech said that Obama would be uniquely qualified to bridge the divide with the Islamic world and to empower moderate Islam. when asked by the reporter about the rational behind his assertion, Kerry said "because he's a black man"

Watching Obama today give a monumental speech on U.S. race relations in terms that I have not heard outside the halls of academia, made me realize that here stands an American Politician who has it with in him, if left to his conscience, to make the world a slightly better place for us all.

I saw a man with integrity tempered by real world pragmatism utter words that he truly believed. Words uttered to calm a tempest certainly, but the words were designed not manufactured. The belief in the philosophy behind the words was genuine not a facade erected for the occasion.

needless to say, I was moved and grateful for the privilege of witnessing a moment in history that for once in my life was not disastrous in its implications.

Then I started listening to the pundits, and though most were weary of criticizing at the beginning (almost afraid to venture without testing the waters ) not long after the applauds had settled than the word JUDGMENT started to be bandied around like a party platter.

After hearing Obama in Texas I couldn't help feeling that he needed a new speech if he was going o fight in Pennsylvania. One with a fighting spirit that calls to his supporters not to lose heart but to hold on. that in the end "we few we happy few we band of brothers" shall prevail. He needs to soar again especially after the recent losses.

he needs to define his own message and not allow Clinton to do it for him.

He needs to play to his strengths and inspirational public speaking is certainly one of them.

So if I were an Obama speechwriter, this is what I would have him say.

I have been watching the American elections for a few cycles now but never as closely nor nearly as obsessively as this most astonishingly riveting race. After all who needs Arsenal and Chelsea and the English premiership when one has Obama and Clinton scoring goals in the American Primary?

I acknowledge that as a citizen of a foreign nation my opinion should mean very little to those of you reading it here. However, I must ask you all to acknowledge that the repercussions of an American presidential election are very rarely confined to the sphere of an American electorate. And as proof of that fact I needn't go back any further than George Bush, Though in truth any American president can serve to prove the point nearly as well if not quite so dramatically.

As such I shall ask your indulgence in voicing my opinion on this decidedly domestic subject.
