Monday evening, Reuters posted an article entitled:
"Harvard enters debate on evolution"
The article notes Harvard's recent announcement that the university is "planning a scientific study of how life emerged on Earth" and then immediately turns to an explanation of Intelligent Design's objections to evolution theory, framing the situation as "the growing, politically charged debate . . ."
Some may argue that this promotion of ID was inadvertent on Reuters' part or that an article on Harvard's announcement might not even have been posted without "sexing it up" this way or that the noise that IDers make over every announcement like this is inherently news. However, the main goal of ID proponents at this stage is to keep pounding into the consciousness of the general audience the idea that there is a "scientific controversy" over evolution until it becomes accepted common wisdom. Articles such as this help the IDers accomplish exactly that.
