The white supremacist bromance with Donald Trump continues full speed ahead. Just prior to Trump’s Super Tuesday victories, his supporters at a Louisville rally repeatedly shoved and pushed black protesters. One young woman, a teenager, appeared to have been shoved around like a rag doll. You can see a video clip of that happening here.
Shaun King over at the New York Daily News gives some background on who the perpetrators were: A group calling itself the Traditionalist Workers Party, whose members claim to be “Identitarians and White Nationalists,” not white supremacists. King also has quotes from some of the young protestors who were accosted by these thugs, including the teenager:
"I was called a n----- and a c--t and got kicked out," said Shiya Nwanguma, a respected student at the University of Louisville to a local interviewer in a video posted on Facebook.
"They were pushing and shoving at me, cursing at me, yelling at me, called me every name in the book. They were disgusting and dangerous."
Last weekend in Memphis, the white supremacist bromance saw Team Trump give press credentials to James Edwards, host of notoriously racist radio program The Political Cesspool.
National civil rights groups have criticized the program for supporting anti-Semites, Holocaust deniers, and white supremacists like David Duke. The show openly states on its website that it's a "pro-White" program that wishes "to revive the White birthrate above replacement level fertility." It is hosted by white nationalist James Edwards, who has claimed that Martin Luther King Jr.'s "dream is our nightmare," "interracial sex is white genocide," and "slavery is the greatest thing that ever happened to" African-Americans.
As incredible as some of this appears, what’s even more incredible is how most people never saw this coming, as if this is not the inevitable end result of reaping what has been sown. Or, as Jeet Heer put it in last week’s The New Republic, how the Republican Party’s “Southern Strategy” made Donald Trump possible.
Yep. It is indeed a white supremacist bromance. Created and consummated in hell.
