The current overworked meme of the right-wing talk-radio/freeper blather out there -- trying to evade placing responsibility for the torture of Iraqi prisoners beyond the "few bad apples" -- repeatedly likens our government to corporations, headed by CEOs, not politicians. (I guess they don't know that the proper term for "fascism" is "corporatism.) These CEOs, they claim, shouldn't be held responsible for the misdeeds of some low-level, not-even-management-level drones.
I find this analogy highly offensive. CEOs of corporations are elected by rich, powerful men (mostly) who choose one of their own to promote their own economic interests, in competition with the public interest.
Presidents, on the other hand, are elected by -- oh, yeah. Nevermind.
