A large group of New York democrats (including my wife) spent the day going door to door in Scranton Pennsylvania. They saw a lot of people who are not doing well financially, mostly democratic, mostly Kerry voters. The mission was to talk to anyone who was undecided to show them the light, and to make lists of people who said they would vote for Kerry. (Dem staffers will cross check the lists at the polling places on election day, and call people in the early evening if they haven't shown up yet).
Most importantly, they were distributing memos on where the polling places are...
Because Scranton happens to be in Lackawanna county Pennsylvania. Lackawanna county is controlled by republicans, who decided a few weeks ago to rearrange the polling places in the highly democratic city of Scranton. You may draw you own conclusions on the connection (if any) between the party affiliation of the county commissioners, and the decision to rearrange Scranton's polling places.
While this is probably old news to dailyKos readers, it was very new news to many people in Scranton.
We are suggesting the the Pennsylvania Democrats do a lot more to notify people where to vote.
This is a highly democratic area, with a lot of people who are not better off today then they were four years ago. GOTV there could make a difference for Pennsylvania, and for the nation.
