Reading the WaPo while stuck on a late night software update at the office, I encountered the following op-ed from David Broder.
Here
He notes the horrid state of Congressional elections (most being one-sided). Whichever way this one goes, in 2006 we have to bring the same effort over to these elections. This time the Presidential has been the big money and time suck...in 2006, we have to crank out both. None of this "only where we're competitive" crap that the party does. We need to get on each and every one (DFA will be a big help in this).
If we can get a margin in Congress, we then have to do something that the very suggestion of will anger half the folks here. We hav to push for redistricting rules/laws which force the end of partisan gerrymandering, so all seats become competitive. Yes, the Tammany Halls wuill scream at this, because they only complain when it's the Reps. who get an advantage by cheating the game, not us. But for the sake of good govt., we need actual competition...not cakewalks by entrenched incumbents/parties.
But first we need to force competition the old fashioned way, by making their slots competitive through money and shoe leather. So if you've become active, remain active. This isn't a one time only, or Presidential only affair...this is a long slog.
