With all the talk about who we should have run in 2008 and how they can compete, everyone seems to forget one fact, John Kerry's 55 million votes were the second most for any candidate in history. Unfortunately, W. got 58 mill. Kerry has name recognition, more media attention, and an a bully pulpit to talk from in the Senate
When President Cheney nominates a judge that passes his unspoken litmus test of overturning Roe v Wade, Kerry calls him to the carpet for his lie during the campaign.
When President Cheney institutes a draft to keep his warS going, Kerry stands firm against it and reminds everyone that during the campaign he was ridiculed for saying that the President would reinstitute the draft.
When we get hit by al Qaeda because we were too busy in Iraq to secure the ports, Kerry reminds everyone that Bush said it was being done.
When the cost of Iraq hits 300 or 400 billion, Kerry reminds them how he was ridiculed for saying it was 200.
When Social Security is cut because President Cheney pushes privatization, Kerry is the voice that reminds the public that it was exactly as he predicted.
We already see that Kerry was right in predicting a bloody assault on Fallujah AFTER the election.
Kerry should also push bills in Congress to enact the exact things that he talked about during this campaign. Push his agenda and make it clear that the Republicans are blocking healthcare for all, lower drug prices, etc...
I personally see no other candidate that can accomplish the same things in the next 4 years. Clark and Edwards cannot push a legislative agenda or resist the Bush agenda. The governors out there Easly, Napolitano, etc... do not have the profile or strategic position that Kerry has.
Kerry can take a high profile as the anti-Cheney (and Bush), speaks out EVERY time things go bad, and reminds people that they did have another option. How many people must be convinced to vote for him in 2008 that didn't in 04? My calculations say 1.51 million. If things go nearly as bad as we all believe they will, switching 2 million voters will be a cinch.
Update [2004-11-9 11:19:39 by DaleNC]: I hear everyone talk about not Kerry again, but if not him, then WHO???
