Hi there. I've been lurking and occasionally posting on dKos for a while, but lately I've seen a lot of posts predicting Economic Armageddon for the US in an apallingly short term.
I recently moved to the US from Canada and started a doctoral programme at a prestigious department in a large university. It pays reasonably well for grad school. But now I'm wondering, if a crash is going to happen so soon, was this a good idea, or should I just have stayed in Canada? I have no US debt and live within my means mostly. It would benefit me if the housing bubble pops, but perhaps not if consumer prices rise.
Now I know that in the event of a crash, Canada would be greatly affected too. But Canada is far better prepared than Bushistan for a collapse and aspects of the Canadian economy might even benefit from it, I think, perhaps due to the floated Canadian dollar.
So what do you think? Did I make a mistake? I mean, it's a prestigious technical graduate programme and all...but what if the US collapses in the middle of it?
