Seeing how my opinion is being discussed without me I thought I'd give you all my own 2 cents about the subject
I am being very honest. I do not like Kerry.
He is my Senator and before I really became aware of all the candidates and got involved with the campaigns he was my first choice. He always seemed like a likeable fellow.
I quickly swung to Dean not out of
disrespect for Kerry but out of a genuine like for the issues that Dean brought to the table.
My fierce dislike for Kerry came from his disgusting behavior in the primaries. I had never seen that Kerry before. He really showed his true colors. In my opinion and I know that many here do not agree, but IMO making the Osama bin Laden ad was the worse thing (besides endorsing Bush) a democrat could do to another Democrat. It made me ashamed of being a Democrat. This is what Republicans do, that action was on par with the Bushies whisper campaign that McCain had an illegitimate "dark" child.
It only got worse...Kerry then proclaimed himself the Non-redistributionist candidate. He then exclaimed that he would have still gone to war even knowing that the basis for it were false. On the eve of the largest pro-choice rally in the history of the United States Kerry gleefully reports that he would indeed consider appointing an anti-choice federal judge. During the largest protest against Bush, Kerry ignores the entire event and goes wind surfing. These are just a very small sampling of the spine-less gestures committed throughout the campaign. (Don't get me started on the whole Skull and Crossbone thing) EVERYONE here saw this and I don't think ONE PERSON agreed...but the feeling was that "he had to do this in order to get elected" to which I vehemently disagreed. This is where this whole troll war started. For example, I stated that considering Kerry's behavior regarding the protest that I doubted very much that Kerry would "take to the streets" to protest election fraud. For those remarks I was roundly trolled Some folks almost likened Kerry to Che himself in the heat of the Revolution ...guess what...Kerry did NOT "take to the streets" to protest election fraud...and for mentioning that again...I have been roundly trolled.
Why am I so angry?? Because of wishy-washy Dems like Kerry the next ten years are going to be hell on earth.
- We will lose Roe. Women will go back to prison for having abortions.
- The Voting Rights Act will not be renewed in 2007, states will have the right once again to initiate poll taxes or OPENLY forbid Black to votes.
- The institutional dismantling of the New Deal will be complete.
- The Department of education will be destroyed.
- Civil Rights???...what the hell is that?
- There will be open season on abusing Gays.
- The economy is going down and the deficit is going up
- Ignorance will prevail
- Have I forgotten anything???
So I forgive me if I do not get misty-eyed over a photo-op of Kerry. The picture Kos showed yesterday of the soldier hugging his best friend's father was the one that I felt the grief. Kerry voted to send these kids to war because he thought it would help him get elected. The picture of Kennedy is more sincere because he did NOT vote to send that kid off to his death.
People have DIED been lynched, shot, raped and maimed in order that we ALL have the right to vote.... This was NOT THE TIME FOR CONCESSIONS only VERIFICATIONS of the Vote. I didn't care if it is a win or a loss but it was inconceivable that Kerry would validate such wide scale fraud. There where videos before the vote that showed fraud taking place. Kerry's concession speech was the death knell of Democracy as we know it. There can be no democracy with out free and fair elections.
So I may grate on some people's nerves but not as much as those who write that some how this is a great man...NO HE IS NOT. The proof is that he could not even win against the worst president since Herbert Hoover.
Reality bites and because of Kerry's actions we are gonna get bitten in the ass for a long time to come. You would think he has learned from his mistakes and is willing to HELP change the system to make all of our lives better...HELL NO. Kerry is doing the exact opposite. What little street cred he has left over he is trying to enforce the status quo of the old broken down system. VILSACK FOR DNC CHAIR...what the hell is Kerry smoking??? I am sure that Vilsack is a good governor for Iowa but to put him up in order to BLOCK REFORM....that was the last straw for me.
The Democratic Party is on its last breath and instead of trying to give it oxygen to revive itself, Kerry instead is trying to paralyze it. A Leader???? I think not, just another self-centered DC politician.
I really really tried to swallow the KoolAid, even in midst of the waves of STFU diaries, and lets pull together camaraderie...all that could not relieve that knot in my stomach that something was desperately wrong with this nominee... and unfortunately I was proven right.
This was the most important election in my lifetime. Believe me I did not take it lightly. Kerry was the wrong person for the job. So it scares the shit out of me to hear people self medicate themselves on more Kool-aid pretending not to see what is so clearly in front of their eyes.
The Kerry 2008 chatter is obscene in light of this election. If they had just let him slip back into oblivion or whatever he had been doing in the Senate for the past 27 years that would have been okay. Perhaps those cheering Kerry 2008, live in some sort of plastic bubble and will not be exposed to the wrath of this administration, because it is beyond me how someone would want to begged for more abuse from the Republicans. I feel that it is my patriotic duty to not let this board fall back again into the lull of ABB or AB[Whatever].
That is MY opinion...what is yours???
