Besdies trying to defend himself from a question about Jon Stewarts accusation,
Tucker Carlson of Crossfire has some interesting things to say about Bush in an
interview with Terry Neal from WashingtonPost.com [can't seem to find it on their site,
but it is on Yahoo!]:
CARLSON: A conservative would look at the idea of imposing democracy in the Middle East and say 'Wait a second, we can't run the
Dept. of Motor Vechicles well, and were going t transplant an entire complex political system on a part of the world
that we know nothing about. Can we really do that?' Thats what a conservative would say...
Bush may be right, in the end, but he's not conservative.
More below the fold
Here's the breakdown of the interview, in case you didn't watch it first:
- Partisanship isn't "Good For America"...begets lying.
- Bush won because Kerry ran a lousy campaign.
- Bush & Co won on "cultural" issues.
- Bush isn't an idealogical conservative, doesn't have a conservative foreign policy, and really isn't conservative.
- Democrats will be the ones to move on Social Security privatization? They just didn't talk about it because of the election.
Partisan? I think it's hilarious having Carlson weigh in on partisanship. It's his job to be partisan...yet it begets lying...so, how...um, then...moving on...
Lousy Campaign. I'm sure here at Kos there are widely differing opinions on the Kerry campaign. However, I will have to concede
partially to Carlson on this one. Kerry could have done way better, but he didn't, so keep the train rolling...
Cultural Issues. The interviewer invoked "What's the Matter with Kansas" and pointed out the lack of action to back up the
"moral values" promises. Carlson takes the normal conservative tactic on this and answers by restating the question. [I'd transcribe, but I have to do
other things today. Take the time and watch the interview. You'll understand.]
Bush Not Conservative. This is something that surprised me...because it's completely true. Bush's policies are not conservative by definition...anyone care
to call them what they are?
Dems to move on Soc. Sec. Privatization? Did I miss something? When did the Dems take up the 'pro' side on this issue?
Discuss! But no partisanship please...Tucky would only want the truth. [Remeber, snark CAN be truth!] Oh, and take the poll.
