The
Bowles for Senate campaign will be stopping in Morehead City on Thursday. The bus will be showing up to support local Congressional candidate
Roger Eaton, the Democratic challenger to Freedom Fries Jones.
The rally will take place at 8AM on the 29th of July at the Dem County HQ (3025 Bridges Street). If anyone can attend, PLEASE do so. Roger needs your support, as does Bowles. We cannot lose a Dem seat in the Senate this year (Bowles is running for Edward's seat), and Eaton needs significant Dem interest to make his race a tight one.
Besides, there will be a free continental breakfast. Free food : good. Come out an support both campaigns on Thursday, and get everyone you know to come with you.
From Roger Eaton's website:
Our district faces much more important moral issues than those currently being addressed by our Congressman. I believe it is immoral that over 40 million Americans are without health coverage. I believe it is immoral for our government not to fully fund concurrent receipts legislation to help our retired disabled veterans. I believe it is immoral to lower environmental protections and to encourage privatization of Social Security and our public schools. I believe it is immoral for our Congressman to claim to be fighting for working families while voting against an increase in the minimum wage. The greatest moral decline facing our district comes from a Congressman who has consistently placed political ideology and special interests above what is best for the people of this district.
In order to reverse this decline, we must hold our elected officials more accountable. Therefore, my campaign is based upon the following standards of accountability. First, monthly town hall meetings rotated throughout our district will ensure that voters have an opportunity to ask questions and receive direct answers from their Congressman. Second, an interactive web site will list a complete voting record and allow voters to comment on upcoming legislation.
Finally is my pledge not to accept money from PAC's, lobbyists, and special interests. These standards will ensure that my votes cast in Congress will be in the best interests of our district and not the best interests of a large campaign contributor.
I want to ensure fair, open, and honest representation to all people, regardless of their political affiliation. Working together we can put an end to the extreme ideology and partisan gridlock that currently grips Washington. Working together we will put an end to the power and influence that special interests have over our legislative process. We are building a grassroots campaign, comprised of people like you who want to make a difference. By working together we will reclaim our seat in
Congress.
Thank you,
Roger
